چکیده

Maize is one of the most important food and feed sources at worldwide level. Due to this importance, all pathogens that can infect crop harm both safety security. Fungi are in cultivated maize, Fusarium spp. families. Reduction yield production dangerous mycotoxins main effects infection. graminearum (part species complex) fungi it causative agent Gibberella ear rot (GER). The characteristics include its ability various varying infection pressures across different years. This fungus produces harmful mycotoxins, such as deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, butanolide, culmorin. Infection start from silk channels or wounds. In first case, environmental conditions factors, but second, a key role played by feeding action lepidopteran larvae (in Europe, Ostrinia nubilalis). Genetic of resistance to ear rot causal agent (Fusarium moniliforme) in quality protein maize (QPM) using line×tester analysis

Breeding for QPM ear rot resistant cultivars could offer a reliable environmental and economic control of mycotoxins especially for the resource-poor communities that require inexpensive protein diets. This research aims at evaluating a testcross of QPM inbreds with ear rot resistant cultivars to develop resistant topcrosses with high grain protein quality and yield. Seven QPM inbreds (lines) a...

Molecular Basis of Resistance to Fusarium Ear Rot in Maize

The impact of climate change has been identified as an emerging issue for food security and safety, and the increased incidence of mycotoxin contamination in maize over the last two decades is considered a potential emerging hazard. Disease control by chemical and agronomic approaches is often ineffective and increases the cost of production; for this reason the exploitation of genetic resistan...

Chlorogenic acid and maize ear rot resistance: a dynamic study investigating Fusarium graminearum development, deoxynivalenol production, and phenolic acid accumulation.

Fusarium graminearum is the causal agent of Gibberella ear rot and produces trichothecene mycotoxins. Basic questions remain unanswered regarding the kernel stages associated with trichothecene biosynthesis and the kernel metabolites potentially involved in the regulation of trichothecene production in planta. In a two-year field study, F. graminearum growth, trichothecene accumulation, and phe...

Transcriptional and Metabolic Changes Associated to the Infection by Fusarium verticillioides in Maize Inbreds with Contrasting Ear Rot Resistance

Fusarium verticillioides causes ear rot and grain mycotoxins in maize (Zea mays L.), which are harmful to human and animal health. Breeding and growing less susceptible plant genotypes is one alternative to reduce these detrimental effects. A better understanding of the resistance mechanisms would facilitate the implementation of strategic molecular agriculture to breeding of resistant germplas...
